I received my Master's of Education in School Counseling with an additional focus in Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of North Carolina. I have spent the last 3 years in the public school system helping children and families. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, families, couples, military and law enforcement through supporting my clients in exploring their thoughts and emotions, clarifying their values, and developing skills for personal growth.
During sessions, my approach draws primarily from Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) and Person-Centered theories, while I may also draw from play therapy when working with children. With CBT, we look at the relationships between thoughts, emotions, and actions and practice skills relevant to the individual’s goals. While being Person-Centered means that I seek to create an accepting, genuine, and empathetic space, and I acknowledge the client’s inherent capacity for growth. It is important to acknowledge that all my clients come from diverse backgrounds and need a space to be vulnerable. I see clients via telehealth and in person at our Concord office.
